Heather Croft was appointed Circuit Mediator for the federal courts of the D.C. Circuit on July 8, 2022. Prior to her appointment, Ms. Croft was Deputy Director for the Appellate Court of Maryland’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Division. As Deputy Director, Heather trained and supervised staff attorney-mediators, assisted the Director with the daily operations of the ADR Division, and co-mediated cases with senior judges. Before joining the Appellate Court’s ADR Division, Ms. Croft served as a Senior Law Clerk for the Honorable Douglas R.M. Nazarian of the Appellate Court of Maryland. Prior to clerking for Judge Nazarian, Heather worked as a Deputy Public Defender for the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office.

Ms. Croft received her J.D. from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles, California, where she was the recipient of the merit-based Paul Wildman Scholarship as well as the Dean’s Merit scholarship for outstanding academic achievement, and her B.A. Magna Cum Laude from the University of Washington.
