Becoming a Volunteer Mediator in the Court of Appeals Program
Volunteer mediators are selected by the Court. Volunteers must have a minimum of ten years of experience practicing law and be members of the Court of Appeals bar. The current roster of mediators includes attorneys with broad experience litigating complex civil and administrative cases, professional mediators, and professors from local law schools. New mediators are added to the panel every few years depending on the Court’s needs and Mediation Office resources. All new mediators must take part in training taught by the Mediation Office staff with experienced panel members and co-mediate one or more cases as determined by the Chief Circuit Mediator. For additional information, please contact Chief Circuit Mediator Robert Fisher at (202) 216-7343.
