Becoming a Volunteer Mediator in the Court of Appeals Program
Volunteer mediators are selected by the court. Volunteers must be members of the D.C. Bar and may not be engaged in active practice before the court while they serve as mediators. The current roster of mediators includes distinguished senior members of the bar, professors from local law schools, and attorneys with broad experience mediating complex civil cases.
New mediators are added to the court’s roster in groups of approximately 10-20, and must undergo a two-day training session conducted by the Mediation Program staff. A new group of trainees is added to the pool approximately every 2-3 years.
If you are interested in serving as a Court of Appeals mediator, contact Chief Circuit Mediator Amy Wind at (202)216-7342.
