Mark Butler is a 1990 honors graduate of the University of Michigan Law School. He joined the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit in 1991 as a staff attorney, having served one year in a similar position with the Michigan Court of Appeals in Detroit. He served as Special Assistant to Chief Judge Harry T. Edwards during the 1994-1995 Court Term, and has held his current position of Special Counsel to the Clerk since May 1995. From July 2003 until July 2006, Mr. Butler also served the Court as Director of Automation.
